These are the people behind the voices of the blog! We're Tina and Terry, or Zola and Mac. We'll explain those names later. We've been friends for almost 20 years. Read on below to learn more about each of us.

Tina Johnson

I'm Tina, a theatre director and teacher at Quitman High School. I've taught here for 25 years and have had a myriad of roles: speech and debate coordinator, junior high theatre director, journalism teacher, English teacher, UIL coordinator and 'that wild theatre woman.' I got my degree in journalism from The University of Texas at Tyler and immediately started teaching at QHS after graduation. My move into theatre was quick, unexpected and exciting. Another teacher was heading the theatre department. She needed an extra chaperone for a UIL trip out of town and asked me to tag along. Within a couple of weeks I was a co-director. In three years, I was leading the theatrical charge! I never looked back. Now, I've worked my way into as many creative roles at QHS as I can. I am currently the UIL coordinator, the One Act Play director, journalism teacher and coach for UIL academics.

A little about me...

  • I love the color black. I was obviously born to be a theatre person.
  • I have one daughter, Alex, a graduate of The University of Texas at Austin. She was a theatre student of mine :)
  • I love to scrapbook, craft and bedazzle anything I can get my hands on.
  • I only like unsweet tea. I know, how un-southern of me.
  • I listen to Broadway musical soundtracks for fun.

Terry McGonagilL

My name is Terry Mcgonagill; however, most people simply refer to me as "Mac". I received my Bachelor's degree from the University of Texas at Austin and a Master's from Texas A&M Commerce. I am starting my first year at Quitman ISD in August, 2016. Previously, I worked for twenty-seven years at Mount Vernon where I directed theatre and coordinated UIL activities. Teaching English was my original assignment, but I was later told I would also need to direct the contest play! I had no idea what I would be getting myself I can honestly say how fortunate I am that theatre found me. I was definitely hooked after that very first contest!!!

  • I love photography.
  • I have two great kids, Lana and Landry.
  • I have two wonderful and smart grandkids, Eli and Emma.
  • I love the mountains.
